Ever since its foundation, Norwegian practice Snøhetta has been proving that architecture can make a significant contribution to the fields of social and ecological sustainability. The wide range of current challenges is reflected in the many buildings and projects developed by Snøhetta that make up its diverse oeuvre. “Changing Conditions” uses individual projects to outline Snøhetta’s approach to design and the story of its development. The selected projects show the diversity in their work, which can be found in urban agglomerations all over the world as well as in the Norwegian and alpine landscape. The exhibition traces the changing framework conditions in the respective period in which the buildings were created. || 24.12.2022-09.01.2023 Exhibition closed

Following the presentation of the results of the EUROPAN competition 2022 in Graz, together with invited guests, we will discuss how the ideas of young planners can be incorporated into the development of future urban planning projects more strongly.
Günther Domenig (*1934 in Klagenfurt) is considered as one of the main representatives of the so-called "Grazer Schule (Graz School)", which was able to realise numerous striking buildings, especially in the 1960-90s, and attracted worldwide attention. From 1953 to 1959 he studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology. From 1980 to 2000 he was a full professor at Graz University of Technology, where he taught housing and design at the Institute for Building Theory. Ten years after Günther Domenig's death, the Haus der Architektur is dedicating numerous events to the architect's extraordinary work.
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. As part of the European funding programme LINA, HDA is hosting a three-year research lab with young architectural practises from Europe.
As a collection partner of the nextroom architecture database, the HDA is responsible for the continuous documentation of architectural goings-on in Styria. The "nextroom" database presents completed projects of high architectural quality or relevance to building culture in the form of a long-term archive that depicts contemporary architecture in Austria and beyond and makes it accessible. Architects can submit projects completed in the last two years at any time.
