The BauherrInnenpreis was awarded for the first time in 1967 by the Zentralvereinigung der ArchitektInnen and is unique in rewarding the courage and creativity of clients rather than architects and designers. The award spotlights these qualities in architecture, open space design, and urban planning. An indispensable contribution to building culture in Austria is visible in the eighteen projects nominated and awarded in 2022. Three of them come from Styria; in the last ten years, there were twenty-five.

The BHPʼ22 also reflects the current sociopolitical discourse: many submissions are about building in existing structures. Especially in planning and building, it is important to use existing resources. Renovation and adaptation offer space for creative solutions.

OPENING
Wednesday, September 13, 2023, 7 pm

At the exhibition opening on September 13, Sandra Sindler-Larsson (IKEA) and architect Jakob Dunkl (querkraft) will present their project Ikea Westbahnhof. This innovative project has received, among others, one of the awards at the BHP'22 and stands paradigmatically for the mentioned transformation process.

In the subsequent round of talks with clients and architects of the Styrian award winners and nominees, insights into the collaboration will be offered:

On Friday, September 22, there will be an opportunity to visit the award-winning projects of the BHP`22 in Styria, to talk to builders and architects and to enjoy the South-Eastern Styria at the Weinhof.
